Back to the E-Commerce Meetup that was held in Montreal on 02/02/2017 with the local Prestashop community.
A few days before:
Make contact with Prestashop via for the organization of the meetup on Montreal: topics to address, budget, organization etc.
Location Search – We contact several co-working locations in Montreal: We Work, Hive etc. But the one that will hold our attention is called ‘La halte’ 24/7, a small space very nice, modern and design at very affordable rates for this kind of meeting.
After a few phone calls, we take a meeting with Philippe, the owner and the room for our Meetup is booked. We expect 25 people: Prestashop merchants, agencies interested in offering their service, users of other platforms like Shopify or Woo-Commerce.
Announcement on our electronic media: Prestashop Montreal Meetup Group, newsletters, Quidd‘s Facebook group or even Prestashop‘s forum!
D-Day :
4:30PM: Préparation
Thanks to Jennifer Maisonneuve (VP) of E-Comm Montreal for supporting us for hosting this event (there are still some cans of Coca-Zero in the fridge). The room is ready to welcome our guests, Nicolas, the Prestashop ambassador for Canada is ready! On the Meetup group set up for the occasion, more than 36 people have confirmed their registration!
6:00PM: Reception of the participants
We receive our first guest around 5.30pm and it will not stop until 7pm. Despite the hockey game, the snow and the traffic to come to town, attendance is confirmed. We feel an intellectual emulsion on the subject and especially a lot of exchanges between the participants. Successful entry!
6.30pm: Presentation Prestashop 1.7 – New Release
Nicolas takes the floor to present in a few words version 1.7 of Prestashop, slides in support. This is an opportunity to discover some new features Prestashop on this new version: improved front office, remodeled back office, change of Prestashop architecture etc.
The audience is interested, questions fuse.
6:45 pm: Questions / Answers then free exchanges around the Bar
A quick tour of the room is organized so that everyone presents their profile, we note the presence of Prestashop merchants : Fabienne from Maman Autrement, Rémi from Artsettechniques.com orPhilippe from Tubes à Neige (and many others, thank you team ).
During these questions / answers, several topics will have been addressed:
- The laws in Quebec / Canada to be able to sell online
- Prestashop tips and features as well as the good moves of e-merchants to make sales online
- How to improve the ergonomics of Prestashop in order to improve the customer experience
- How to make landing pages more dynamic via modules or CMS
- What are the best templates?
- SEO under Prestashop in Quebec? in Canada ?
And many others …
9 pm: End of the event
The participants leave. It’s time to say goodbye and wish good sales to everyone. This event was a success, a lot of participation and informative exchanges. A survey is sent to get some feedback on the organization and the participants are full of praise:

I can not wait to participate in a workshop. I hope the dates will be available weeks before the event to allow me to attend. I often teach weekends. Keep up the great work.
These meetups are necessary. One should be able to help others with concrete glitches and that the ambassador be listened to by the parent company.

Loved the location, the service and the goodies. About the Presta community: it would be very rewarding for the Prestashop community of Montreal (and Canada) to have critical mass, and stable and regular events …
